Vienna, VA (Sept. 21, 2006) – Serco Inc., a major provider of managed
services to the Department of Defense and government agencies in North America,
has been awarded two multiple award contracts totaling $370 million by the
U.S. Army’s Research, Development and Engineering Command Acquisition
Center, headquartered at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. The contracts,
awarded under the Cooperative Administrative Support Unit (CASU) program,
are for a term of 27 months and allow Serco to sell its services on a world-wide
basis.
Serco was one of five companies selected for the Professional Services contract,
valued at $260 million. Under this contract, Serco will compete for federal
agency projects that require people with higher-level educational degrees
or professional certifications, such as engineers, accountants or attorneys.
The Technical Services contract, valued at $110 million, was awarded to Serco
and two other companies, and includes work that requires personnel with training
in technical, craft or trade skills.
Serco assembled a winning team of subcontractors ranging from large multi-national
companies to small veteran-owned firms. Each party contributed key
capabilities to support the broad scope of potential work in the two vehicles.
“Our wide range of capabilities – in human capital management,
professional services, logistics, engineering and cost analysis – is
a good match for a broad contract like this,” said Ed Casey, CEO of
Serco Inc. “By being able to integrate our depth of services, we
can better meet the increasing needs of our clients for higher quality results
and more consistent project management of complex projects.”
Serco Inc. currently provides human resources solutions, logistics/cost analysis,
IT and business process re-engineering, as well as aviation, transportation,
engineering and fleet management services to various DoD, federal agency,
local government and commercial clients.
