Contract marks third major defense contract in last few weeks
VIENNA, VA (April 17, 2007) – Serco Inc., a major provider of government and military support services, announced today that it was selected by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) to provide engineering and installation services for C4ISR systems at ship, shore and submarine locations on the West Coast.
The single award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity performance-based contract, referred to as Sea Enterprise West, is valued at $208 million if all options are exercised over its five-year term. Serco has operated under a similar contract with SPAWAR since 1997.
Under the contract, Serco will support SPAWAR in providing program management, engineering design, and installation support services to deliver fully operational and sustainable C4ISR systems to the warfighter. A key objective of the Sea Enterprise contract is to reduce the costs of installations by improving productivity and achieving long term efficiencies.
“SPAWAR recognizes the need to establish effective partnerships with industry to support processes that will streamline installations and lower overall costs,” said Kent Brown, vice president of Serco Inc.’s Engineering Business Unit. “We are excited to continue our support to SPAWAR as they deliver fully integrated and interoperable C4ISR systems to the fleet.”
Through the award, Serco will perform C4ISR installations at shore facilities, aboard surface ships and submarines, and special purpose crafts. Work locations include San Diego, CA, Bremerton, WA, Everett, WA and Pearl Harbor, HI.
Sea Enterprise is the third major defense support contract awarded to Serco in the last few weeks, following the $225 million LOGCAP cost analysis and logistics contract for the US Army and the $64 million Spectech contract for evaluating and deploying port security systems with SPAWAR.
