Serco North America’s Transportation Business Unit has been awarded its first wins in the Public Transportation sector representing combined projected revenues of over $12 million. The two new contracts were announced within a thirty day span of each other, and both demonstrate this Business Units’ ability to leverage Serco’s worldwide portfolio of expertise in traffic management and traveler information systems.
The group’s first win was the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s (NCDOT) traveler information system, Serco will maintain, review, correct and update information available to the public on a 24/7 basis. Over the coming months, Serco’s responsibilities will grow to include the enhancement of timeliness and accuracy of traveler information, and supporting the growth in ITS operations with NCDOT. Serco was chosen because of a strategic relationship built with the engineering firm PBS&J, over the past year. This contract award is for one-year and brings with it $300,000 in revenue.
The group’s second contract is with Georgia’s Department of Transportation (GDOT), allowing us to run the Traffic Management Center for the state. We will be responsible for providing managed solutions in the areas of transportation management centers, roadway operations, and mass transit for the state. This is a strategically important win for Serco North America, as they successfully overcame the incumbent, URS, who has performed well for the GDOT for the past 12 years.
