Serco Secures US Army Casualty Support Services Contract Win

RESTON, VA (August 13, 2008) – The US Army awarded Serco Inc. a contract to deliver operations center support services to the US Army Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Operations Center (CMAOC). The $9 million contract carries a total potential value of $44.5 million over three years if all options are exercised.

This contract win demonstrates Serco’s ability to quickly adapt to the US military’s operational tempo of war. Serco supported the US Army with 48 personnel in 2004 when it was awarded the original contract. Today, more than 128 Serco employees with secret clearances work side-by-side with US Army and other military personnel to manage sensitive communications and information pertaining to wounded and fallen Soldiers. “We have earned the privilege to demonstrate to our military customers that we can fulfill this demanding and challenging support services need with compassion and honor,” said George Anastasi, Serco Vice President of the Human Resources Solutions Business Unit. “Our lifecycle military personnel management services enable the US Army to really focus their personnel resources on their mission.”

In addition to the work at CMAOC in Alexandria, Virginia, Serco also supports the Joint Personal Effects Depot at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, accounting for, cleaning and forwarding on to family members the personal effects of the military members of all services and all unaccompanied federal civilians who die or are seriously injured outside of the United States. Serco is the prime contractor, teaming with two Small Disadvantaged Veteran-Owned Small Businesses—Armed Forces Services Corporation and ARServices, Limited.
